As “Kiss the Girl” played as she walked down the aisle, Lizette only had eyes for her future husband. She and Aston had decided to forgo a “first look,” so this was the first time they had seen each other all day. When I had asked Lizette what photographs she wanted the most, she only had one: Aston’s face as she walked down the aisle. And boy, did it not disappoint!
Their whole ceremony was picture perfect; every detail was deeply personal and magical. Lizette made the bridesmaids’ bouquets and groomsmen’s boutonnieres herself, a friend of the couple officiated, and family members read meaningful pieces. But the biggest tear-jerker moment of the day came when Aston surprised Lizette by reading his vows to her in Spanish. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room, and he even got a round of applause from her whole family after he had finished. That was a moment that I will never ever forget. I was even wiping away a tear or two in between photographing.
When we got to the San Diego Maritime Museum, I got to sneak off with Lizette and Aston (affectionately known as Astonette among their friends) for a few minutes of photos on the boats. The sun was starting to set, the breeze was absolutely perfect, and these two love birds only had eyes for each other.
Lizette and Aston’s wedding was the first destination wedding for my business partner, Shannon, and me. They were a dream couple to work with, and we are so happy for them!
