It All Began With One Simple "Yes"
On a cold Chicago February day in 2013, my husband came home and asked what I thought about moving to California. As a high school teacher who loved her job and as someone who did not love change, I surprised myself when I said, "Let's do it!" We moved in June of 2013 after I finished teaching, and the rest is history.
Now, most days you can find me in jeans and a
t-shirt with cat in my lap and some snacks nearby; mom life and business life tend to overlap around the house. Alone time is tough to come by, so I love sharing my hobbies of crochet and baking with my kids, Henry and Charlie.
My husband, Will, and I are one of those crazy high school sweetheart couples that have been together for 17+ years. What a blessing it's been to grow up together while growing together. We love being outside with our kids and letting the clean laundry pile up for days before folding. (Seriously, how does anyone stay on top of kid laundry?!) We love our quiet nights at home with the best Thai takeout food and dream about family adventures in new places.
Life is all about seasons. Some are exciting, some are a little chaotic, and some are downright difficult. But every season of life is worth capturing.
My goodness - have there been some crazy seasons in this life! But even throughout the most difficult of them, I've tried to find ways to honor how far I've come. No example of that rings truer than completing the Dopey Challenge in Disney World in January 2023 - 48.6 miles in four days, including my very first marathon! What a victory lap that was after some of my craziest seasons.
To be honest, my life is vastly different than I expected it to be. As a Chicagoan, I certainly never expected to be dodging winter and living amongst palm trees in nature's playground. But it's those amazingly unexpected twists and turns that have made me who I am today. I've learned to celebrate each season as it comes and enjoy being more present with my family.
Chasing big dreams, using proper grammar on holiday cards, drinking hot chocolate all year, and making time my most valuable commodity
Baths without bath bombs or bubbles, life without cake, coffee of any kind, and days without chocolate
Doing puzzles and playing board games with my kids, watching my favorite TV shows on repeat, and snacking on pretzels
Morning workouts, cuddles with my cats, creative time, and good skincare
