Whether you started your business years ago or haven’t finally made that leap into entrepreneurship, one of the most important lessons to be learned is that you should create a brand, not a business. But what does that mean, and why is it so important?
What is a business?
It’s important to understand the difference between these two concepts. A business is the service or product that you provide. So for me, it’s my photography. The actual process of me doing the emailing, photographing, editing, and gallery delivering. That’s my business. It’s a service I provide and something that I truly love and want to continue to grow. But it’s not my brand.
What is a brand?
Your brand is how people connect with you. It’s how you market to others to help them get to know you. It’s the emotional response that people feel when they come across your business and what sets you apart from other businesses that provide the same services. This can be done through colors, imagery, and an overall strategy to make people truly remember you.
