New Year, Better Me (and BIG Business Changes!)

Every January I try to take the opportunity to reflect on the last year and see what worked, what didn’t, and how I’m going to make the next year better. And while I’d like to say that each year is different and a brand new start and magical and full of brilliant changes, truthfully that’s not how I’ve felt. But this year? 2018 is different.

I’ve taken more steps towards becoming a healthier and better person in the last year than I have in probably the other 20-something years combined. Some of them are little, and some of them are big. But all of them have led to me where I am now: my best freaking self EVER. Guys, I’m not kidding. I feel more content and simply present than I have in a long time. And while there are still challenges that lie ahead, I am unbelievably excited for what 2018 has in store.

But what does all of that mean for my business? Well, it means a few things.

First, this is my new blog on my brand spanking new website! I’d had the same website for four years, and it was time for a change. When I first started my business, I had just moved to California a few months back, was grieving the end of my teaching career, and was enjoying my free time with my husband and no children. Now it’s more than four years later and I’m simply not the same person. I’m a mom, I’ve established a life in Sacramento, and I have much less free time. So new site and blog is a fresh space for me to share all things photography, life, and motherhood.

In addition, I’ll be expanding my business adventures back to education this year. While I can’t spill all of the details, I can say that this fall you’ll see the end product. I am SO excited for this new adventure!

Other than that, my business will remain as it has before. I am still photographing couples and families and cute squishy babies. I cannot wait to serve my clients in the best and most creative ways this year. It’s quite the journey to be a small business owner, but it’s the most fulfilling feeling to know I’m designing a life that I love and that makes me happy.
